  5. Elaichi Chai — The Essential Spice

Chamomile & Citrus

There is a particular stillness to chamomile. Chamomile & Citrus honours that quality—whole chamomile buds, not broken fannings, paired with the sunlit brightness of orange peel. The two create a tisane of unusual warmth and gentleness: fragrant, golden, and deeply pleasant to drink in the unhurried evening hours. Caffeine-free. Sourced from farms whose chamomile is grown for the quality of the bud, not the volume of the harvest.
Floral and gently sweet. Chamomile’s apple-adjacent softness is beautifully offset by the brightness of orange peel. Together they produce a warm, honeygolden liquor with a long, fragrant finish. Light-bodied, unhurried, and entirely soothing in character.
Evening — particularly the hour before reading or rest. Brewed without milk; with a small ribbon of orange peel in the cup if you wish to intensify the citrus note.

  • Profile & Source: Dried naturally to preserve its essential oils, our orange peel delivers a tangy, bittersweet profile that dances on the tongue.

How It All Began

Chamomile has been steeped in hot water for longer than most teas have existed. The ancient Egyptians used it. The Mughals called it Babuna ka Phool — the doctor’s flower. It crossed every trade route, survived every century, and arrived in this cup without needing to change a thing about itself. We blend it with dried orange pieces — the kind that give the infusion a warmth and gentle brightness that the chamomile alone keeps to itself. The two together make a cup that is floral, lightly sweet, and quietly golden. Two ingredients. Nothing else. Caffeine-free, naturally so — made for the cup you brew when the day has been long and the evening deserves better than ordinary. Inspired by the Garad saree of Murshidabad, West Bengal — the Lal-Par saree of Bengal, woven from undyed natural mulberry silk in white and red. Garad means white. It represents purity — the kind that needs no embellishment. FUTE is a woman-founded, producer-owned brand from the tea gardens of Assam. Each blend is crafted by hand, in season, with thirty years of knowledge behind every cup.
