Palash Tea “Flame of the Forest”

Each spring, the Assam forest ignites with the brilliant orange blossoms of the Palash tree—Butea monosperma—one of India’s most sacred and visually spectacular flora. Long before the concept of wellness existed in modern vocabulary, Palash flowers were gathered, dried, and brewed by communities across the subcontinent. Fute’s Palash tisane is a pure floral infusion: handpicked blossoms, dried with care, and presented in a tin worthy of what they are. No tea leaves. No additives. Just the forest, in your cup.
Deeply earthy and distinctly floral — a combination found nowhere else in the botanical world. The Palash flower produces a brew of warm orange-amber tones, with a wild, woody sweetness and a finish that is long and quietly complex. Unforgettable on first encounter; compelling on every return.
Any time — this is a caffeine-free tisane. Particularly beautiful during the festival of Holi, when the Palash flower’s crimsonorange colour feels most at home.

Palash Flowers

  • Heritage: A sacred Indian bloom traditionally used to mark the arrival of spring and celebrate the vibrant colors of nature.
  • Profile & Source: Sourced from the deciduous forests of Central India, these petals yield a soft, golden infusion with a mild, earthy sweetness.

How It All Began

Every spring across India, before a single leaf has appeared on its branches, the Palash tree catches fire. Not literally — but Butea monosperma, the Flame of the Forest, erupts in deep orange-red flowers so densely clustered that from a distance the tree looks like it is burning. It is one of the most arresting sights in the Indian landscape, and it happens for only a few weeks each year. We collect those flowers at peak bloom, dry them carefully, and steep them in hot water. The infusion brews golden and lightly floral — delicate in the way that single-ingredient tisanes always are when the ingredient is good enough to stand alone. One ingredient. One season. One cup. Inspired by the Uppada Jamdani saree of Andhra Pradesh — Jamdani from the Persian for flower vase. A celebrated artistic tradition that began over three hundred years ago and continues to this day in the handlooms of East Godavari. Every motif a flower. Every flower a story. FUTE is a woman-founded, producer-owned brand from the tea gardens of Assam. Each blend is crafted by hand, in season, with thirty years of knowledge behind every cup.
